Endodontics
Endodontics focuses on the physiology and pathology of what is commonly known as the root canal of the tooth. The goal of endodontic treatment, called “devitalisation”, is to ensure that the tissues surrounding the tooth maintain or regain a healthy state. This is done by removing the necrotic dental pulp and subsequent disinfection with antibacterial solution.
This intervention aims to preserve the tooth and surrounding tissues, also allowing better chewing and swallowing. Existing methods are used, thus preventing tooth extraction.
